Maintaining a healthy lifestyle requires balance in more way than one way. If you want to improve your overall health, here are 10 easy tips for becoming a healthier you.

  1. Add an extra serving of vegetables to your day: By adding in just one more serving of vegetables daily, you can vastly improve the nutritional benefits of your meals.
  2. Add 100 more steps to your day: Although the goal is to hit 10,000 steps every day, try adding an extra 100 to your routine. You’d be surprised what a difference 100 steps can make.
  3. Include one more serving of fish: When you’re planning out your meals for the week, include an extra serving of fish. Grilled, baked or broiled fish is a healthy way to get protein without much fat.
  4. Go to bed an hour earlier: In order to sleep better, go to bed an hour earlier. Turn off your electronics, and let yourself wind down from the day, turn off the lights and relax. It will have a significant impact on your sleep.
  5. Drink more water: Try to drink another 4 ounces of water every day. 4 ounces is equal to only ½ cup, but it will help keep your body hydrated longer.
  6. Try relaxation exercises: If you’re experiencing a lot of stress, meditation or relaxation exercises will help relieve that stress. Just a couple of minutes a day can help.
  7. Have less of your favorite treats: Instead of eliminating all of your favorite treats, simply try having less of them or a smaller portion.
  8. Eat as a family more often: Even if it’s only breakfast or dinner once a week, research shows that family meals promote healthier eating habits that can last a lifetime.
  9. Do that creative activity you’ve been putting off: Whether it’s dancing or singing lessons, photography, art or pottery classes, creativity has shown to reduce stress and sharpen our brains.
  10. Move around during the day: If your back, shoulders or hamstrings are sore, you’re probably sitting too much throughout the day. Make sure to go for a few short walks around the office, or stretch at your desk when you have the chance.
